Well 2011 has been a year of new opportunities! We opened our shop in Kokrobite Beach and have done some markets around the city of NO. But this weekend was an accomplishment I could have only dreamed. Over the last several weeks I have been working on altering a wedding dress for a friend and it became one of the biggest challenges I have tackled so far! The wedding and the dress were beautiful!
I had hoped to encompass in the alteration the vision I held of the dress when I first saw it, with its classic western texture, color, embellishments, but adding the influence of African heritage. I hope to add a picture of the bride soon. It was a WEARABLE work of art. That I was by grace, able to match in conception and end design. Transforming a classic western style dress, to compliment the African American ceremonial wedding the bride created.
For many fans of African fashion it is a constantly growing, fluent creature. I was looking on the web and found this fabulous designer. The video didn't have a lot of hits but I was intrigued by the designer and the fashion. Check out this video.
Our next endeavor is getting ready for the Black Art Fest. Much to create. One creative African world!
