Once upon a time in Africa...

Lots of exciting things are happening! It has made me reflect on where this dream started...

I think before I met Black Africa I would have done non-profit work. But he was the first working artist I sat down with and talked about art. We talked and talked and talked. We both shared a vague dream of helping our world through our art. And these years have passed. This year we celebrated our 5th year anniversary. Our dream we started on the streets of Osu and Kumasi has grown into the vision of a world where every citizen has access to safe drinking water. The art has grown-- Black Africa is now a Master Painter in Ghana, I have grown as a fashion designer, a visual artist and I have become a social entrepreneur. I was divorced before I traveled to Ghana in 2006, and through this all I have been a parent to my children. They, along with Black Africa's brothers and sisters (my own children's ages), are the fuel of my burning passion for the company's mission.

My blog is my way to share this journey into social entrepreneurship. And my dream that our company would be a resource to helping people access safe drinking water. The idea that business helps the world be more sustainable is a vision I hope more companies embrace.
