Been a long time coming

I know it's been a while since I've got on this blog. That's how many blogs end up in cyber graveyards. Lol. But my lack of activity on the blog has been due to many exciting company developments. We were so encouraged by your response to our debut at The National Black Arts Festival that we have been at it night and day to bring our clothing line- NKWA`African Urban Fashion to the fashion forward African inspired woman!

Since February I have been working with a local business development organization named Goodwork Network. It has been through that resource we have been able to grow our business. And because of two organizations, Kiva-New Orleans and ASI Federal Credit Union, we received funding to announce:

It's OFFICIAL our clothing line will launch next month in Osu-Accra! And we are currently in the process of developing a website that will allow YOU to order online!!

To find more information about our recent loan please click here to go to Kiva-New Orleans website.

This has been a dream of mine since 2007! When I came home from our wedding with new cloth, I began making dresses. As my fashion taste has changed, it was moving to New Orleans- with all its African influence, that inspired me to truly begin designing. Designing dresses that are for every woman. Bringing the tradition and spirit in the fabrics of Africa, to a modern woman- in designs that give the tailored made feel one can't find off-the-rack.

But that's not all! After many months of legal consultation and researching legal documents, and a lot of waiting...IT'S OFFICIAL!! The state of Louisiana has accepted our conversion to the L3c! So what does that mean? While ampelonartist, L3c operates for profit- our primary purpose is to promote a charitable cause. We promote clean water access and the use of art for sustainable development. This will allow us to designate a portion of our company proceeds to purchase water gravity containers, that will give clean water for families for one year!! These containers will be purchased from Canadian based company, Rainfresh. Our mission to use art, commerce and fashion will soon begin changing lives. In November we will give a family the first water gravity container! It is so easy to take for granted clean water. I did for 34 years. I believe if we do not address the issue of people gaining access to clean water, all other struggles for freedom will be in vain. In Ghana, 18% of all childhood deaths happen because of lack of access to clean water. To think- just drinking clean water could save the lives of thousands of people. To learn, to grow, to love...

There will be more to share soon. I will be traveling back to Ghana in November. So keep checking to find out more exciting news
