First and foremost it's about Clean Water!

Ghana was such a wonderful experience for me in many conflicting ways. Village life agrees with me, I've been going to the Virginia country since I was a child. And my husband's family and community, both in Accra and Kumasi, have been inspiringly loving. That inspiration was the spark of creative release that was needed in me to become an entrepreneur. Then ultimately a social entrepreneur.

This is a picture of my sister. She speaks a little conversational english so we are able to communicate. My last trip in 2011, we talked about her future. She has many dreams, and it is my biggest hope that this vision of Clean Water for ALL will be able to help her achieve them. In July of last year a large milestone was overcome when a Rotary Club in Pittsburgh shared with me that I can produce ceramic water filters, both custom and standard, and truly achieve my mission to help households that currently cannot--access Clean Water.

Entrepreneurship is the process and method to create a product for sale that is currently missing in the market. That's my own definition and I have no doubt academics will find disagreement. But in my life, entrepreneurship developed that way. I saw a need, then I created a product. But the social aspect was born from my longest desire to make the world better. It has been my guiding principal as a young teen--in its raw stage, then as a parent it was my sole desire to instill in my children the imperative of being a productive citizen. So living in rural Ghana for the times I have, and being inspired by the fashion, the artisans and traders, and the culture--the rich, ancient culture, had a deep burden knowing communities do not have access to safe drinking water by International Standards.

Whatever circumstance we find ourselves in day to day, we are there. As Black Africa tells me, every day we wake up we know that God has something for us. When we are dead it is too late for us to do anything. With that I won't make predictions and give timelines. But I will say our mission to use art, fashion and commerce to help households worldwide access Clean Water is moving forward!

It is my earnest hope that by the end of 2013 we will bring 10 households ceramic water filters in Kumasi! And begin full production of our natural African Body products!
